Verification of Detector Integrity
Continuous Mass Spectrometer Analysis
IEEE STD-325-1996 Testing
We service AMETEK ORTEC, Canberra (Mirion), Princeton Gamma Tech, and Tennelec high-purity germanium (HPGe) detectors—returning systems to low-noise, high-stability operation. Our work encompasses the entire signal chain and cryostat, including JFET/front-end replacement; neutron-damage annealing to recover charge-collection efficiency; pump-and-bake vacuum restoration with getter reactivation, contaminant/moisture removal, and helium-leak verification; plus preamplifier and high-voltage bias-filter repair and requalification.
Each detector is rebiased and tuned, then validated with a gamma-spectroscopy acceptance suite compliant with IEEE Std 325-1996, including:
Energy calibration and linearity checks
Resolution (FWHM) at low and high energies (e.g., 122 keV and 1.33 MeV)
Peak-to-Compton ratio and relative efficiency
Leakage current, capacitance, microphonics, and count-rate stability
Vacuum integrity assessment
Our Oak Ridge–based nuclear instrumentation team delivers fast turnaround, detailed test data, and a final performance report ready for QA records in safeguards, radiochemistry, NAA, low-level counting, and general gamma-spectroscopy applications. Contact us at repairs@nucleonpower.com or (865) 287-5297 with your repair needs, and we’ll promptly provide a quote along with the expected lead time.
